Eureka targets small firms with billion - dollar program

The pan-European Eureka program of research funding has launched an 800 million euro (about $1.14 billion) effort specifically aimed at funding R&D in SMEs  small- and medium-sized enterprises  the European Union jargon for companies with less than 250 employees.
