Researchers at IBM have demonstrated logic switching among single molecules in a stable structure that better suits circuit construction than earlier molecular switches. The technique employs the probe of a low-temperature, scanning, tunneling microscope to induce a voltage pulse in a molecule of naphthalocyanine.
