Inventor picks brain for new tool class
For most of his career, Palm Inc. founder Jeff Hawkins has been interested in the science of the brain. In March, his latest company, Numenta Inc., will release software tools to build systems he claims embody the principles of human intelligence. The software, based on mathematical models developed by colleague Dileep George, leverages theories of how the neocortex works that Hawkins described in his 2004 book, On Intelligence.</P>
