Analyst: Chip inventory down, but trouble still ahead

According to a preliminary forecast from iSuppli Corp., excess semiconductor inventory is projected to decline to $2.9 billion by the end of the first quarter, down 14.6 percent from a revised $3.4 billion level in the fourth quarter of 2007.
